We are so excited to welcome you to The Pelvic Pain Network, your network of expert pelvic pain professionals.

The Pelvic Pain Network was established to support the needs of the 1 in 5 women, with persistent pelvic pain. Together, we’re on a mission to make pelvic pain healthcare more accessible.

What is pelvic pain?

  • Chronic or persistent pelvic pain is pain felt anywhere inside or outside the pelvis that lasts for more than 6 months. This includes any pain felt from your belly button to your buttocks.

  • The pain can be there all the time or “cyclical”, meaning it happens around your periods

  • Women living with pelvic pain may also experience bladder, bowel, or sexual problems.

  • These symptoms may have a significant impact on a woman’s wellbeing and quality of life.

  • Between a third to a half of keyhole surgery to investigate persistent pelvic pain finds no obvious cause for the pain.

  • Persistent pain is affected by physical, psychological, and social factors. To achieve the best results treatment should always consider the whole person.

  • Guidelines recommend that the best care for pelvic pain is achieved when healthcare professionals work together across medical specialties. This joined-up care is what we aim to provide you.
